March Wrap Up & April TBR

Wow.

I’m writing this on 3rd of April.

3 days into April and I hadn’t even realised it was a new month until I saw another blogger’s post on their anticipated reads for April.

March was just that bad.

So I didn’t manage to read a lot of books in March and any books that I did finish reading was not on my March TBR.

In March I read…

Fierce Heart by Tara Grayce

I wrote a review on this book and I absolutely loved it!! So much so that I read the next two books straight after that. I plan to get to the rest of the books in the series but I don’t think that I’ll get to it this month.

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

A re-read. It was alright.

I’m currently reading…

Its Not Me It’s You by Stephanie Kate Strohm

This book was on my March TBR and I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve been reading a few pages of it every night and it’s a nice light read to end the day on. Humorous, too.

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

Yes I’m STILL reading this one! It has been on my February and March TBR but I still haven’t managed to finish it. Some days I’m in the mood for it and some days I’m not. I’m about halfway through it.

No Man Can Tame by Miranda Honfleur

If I’m honest, I’m not really enjoying this book. The main romance was too fast, the battle and action scenes are confusing, I feel absolutely nothing for most of the characters and it’s quite forgettable as I found out when I read a good few chapters one morning only to come back after a whole day and realise that I’d forgotten what the story is about, which never happens to me. EVER. I also started skipping some bits about half of the way in because I was just so confused. There were also many events or ‘issues’ where I just didn’t see why it mattered or how it was relevant.

I think I might DNF this book but if i’m honest, after skipping half of it, I’m quite near the end now so I might force myself to read the rest of it. I hate DNF’ing books so I really want to make this work. These are just my opinions.

Update: I don’t like how this ended. It just tied up loose ends too conveniently, like fan fiction. And yet again it was sort of confusing. Again, this is just my opinion. I rarely dislike books.

A Deal With The Elf King by Elise Kova

I started reading this but I actually DNF’d it about 28 pages in. I may come back to it later on, but at that point I just really wasn’t enjoying the story. Mainly because I really didn’t like characters that I had met so far.

Update: I picked this up again shortly after finishing No Man Can Tame and it’s alright. So far, I still don’t like the characters all that much. I’m only on page 66. It’s not bad so I’m just going to keep reading it.

Update #2: I just finished it and I actually really liked it. I imagined Eldas to look like a mixture of Thranduil from LOTR and Weylind from Fierce Heart. I thought Harrow might’ve been like Cardan from The Cruel Prince. I actually kinda liked the magic system so overall not too bad. I loved it!

My April TBR…

Dreams of the Dying by Nicolas Leitzau

I was sent this book to review and I’m honestly so excited to read it because it sounds so interesting. I just hope my review will do it justice!

The Mechanical Maestro by Emily Owen

This is another book that I was sent to review. This book sounds really interesting and I plan to get to it as soon as I can! I’ll also be interviewing the author so look out for that, coming soon to LeafPages Blog.

The Duff by Kody Keplinger

I tried to read this last month but just haven’t got to it so I hope to read this in April. This is actually a re-read as I read it about 7 years ago. I can’t remember how I felt about it though, I think I preferred the movie but we’ll see how I feel about it now.

I remembered this book’s existence after I binge watched (I’ve been doing that a lot, lately) The Babysitter films and saw Bella Thorne and Robbie Amell who were both in The Duff movie so I thought I’d buy my own copy of the book.

The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien

My LOTR obsession resurfaced after I binge watched the Hobbit films last month and I don’t think it’ll stop there. I really hope to read both The Hobbit and LOTR because I honestly can’t get enough of Middle Earth!

Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman

I started this in March but haven’t finished it so I hope to continue reading this one as well.

One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus

This book was also on my March TBR but I never got to it so I’m going to try and read that one this month.

Lore by Alexandra Bracken

I’m suuuuuuuper excited to read this book as it’s reminiscent of The Hunger Games and Percy Jackson. I really want to read this but I also just want to save it for The Perfect Moment; you know, when it’s the perfect time to read that book and you’re all relaxed so you can just get lost in the story.

House of Earth and blood by Sarah J Maas

This is more of an aspirational target but I hope to read House of Earth and blood by Sarah J Maas. I heard some good things about it so I’m excited.

That’s all for today, thanks for reading!

Until next time,
